Assistant Camp Director, Children Program Coordinator
The Assistant Camp Director, Children Program Coordinator is responsible for the development, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the JCC's youth and children's programs, including JCC Rockland Camps, Vacation Camp, Kids Night Out and Family Fun Days. The Assistant Camp Director, Children Program Coordinator plays an integral role in building our growing camp program and being an agent for change and positive growth. The Assistant Director, Children Program Coordinator must be capable of "switching gears" - being approachable and fun when working with children and parents, and being organized and professional when in the office.
The Assistant Camp Director, Children Program Coordinator is a full-time position, reporting to the Program Director. The position requires expertise in working with children in an informal or experiential environment, such as summer camp or recreational children’s programs. The Assistant Camp Director, Children Program Coordinator supervises staff and works alongside a team of professional colleagues as part of the JCC's program team.

To be successful, the Assistant Camp Director, Children Program Coordinator will need to be a self-starter, who can set goals and work toward them and takes an interest in their own personal and professional development.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Provide supervision for part-time and seasonal staff members as assigned.
- Assist in preparing the annual budgets for the youth and camp departments.
- Help develop a plan for each department's program in line with the organization's mission and market demand.
Programming
- Lead JCC Rockland’s summer camp program which includes:
- Creating a camp culture instilled with spirit, positive energy, and a commitment to the organization's values.
- Growing program offerings, camper enrollment, and departmental revenue through enhanced marketing, outreach, relationship-building, programming, recruitment, and sales.
- Serving as the Assistant Camp Director during the summer and supervising the camp leadership team consisting of year-round and seasonal employees.
- Overseeing the planning of all programmatic aspects of camp, such as field trips, special days and activity areas.
- Being responsible for all aspects of camper safety.
- Acting as the primary liaison with parents.
- Maintaining rooms and spaces inside and outside the building utilized by camp and coordinating
facility usage with building services staff.
- Plan and execute select programs and events throughout the year, including classes and special
events. This includes, but is not limited to Vacation Camp, special events, and family engagement
programs.
Administration
- Ensure operations are in compliance with the Rockland County Health Department pertaining to the operation of a summer day camp.
Leadership
- Take an active interest in career growth, including learning new skills, staying current on industry trends, and constantly innovating and taking calculated risks.
- Hiring, recruiting, interviewing, and evaluating youth and camp staff. Planning and executing staff orientation and ongoing training, scheduling staff, and leading staff meetings and trainings.
- Participate as a member of the JCC's program team, providing support to co-workers.
- Conduct personal outreach to JCC members and participants, building relationships and leveraging them to encourage repeat and cross-department business.
- Regularly assess local competition to determine brand positioning and opportunities for growth.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum two years of professional experience working with children, preferably in an informal/experiential environment (such as summer camp or recreational children’s programs)
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent computer skills, including the Microsoft Office suite, and the ability to learn new systems quickly
- CPR, AED and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain)

Specialist

activity? JCC Rockland Camps is seeking motivated and talented individuals to join our summer specialist
team.
We
provide unique and engaging summer experiences for campers ages 18 months through entering 10th grade.
As a specialist, you will function in a teaching role for both campers and counselors. You will be
responsible
for
age-appropriate lesson planning to show growth and development, both physically and social-emotionally, as
well
as
maintaining organization in your area. We all grow together!

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Planning and executing 8 weeks (39 days) in your specialized activity
- Assist in coordination of camp-wide events such as Color War & Carnival
- Submit weekly lesson plans and equipment needs
- Manage a camper group of 8-15 campers and instruct counselors how to assist during the activity
- Must be able to work in a cooperative and engaging manner with campers, staff, and the leadership team
- Instill values of sportsmanship in programming
- Assume additional roles and responsibilities as assigned by your supervisor
- Keep inventory of supplies and manage storage areas for cleanliness
- Notify supervisor of any issues or concerns as it relates to schedule, facility, equipment, or behaviors
that
need to be addressed

Camp Counselor

individuals to join our camp counselor team. We provide unique and engaging summer experiences for campers
ages
18
months through entering 8th grade.
As a camp counselor, you have an important role supervising a group of campers and working closely with your
support
staff. You will be a “responsible camper,” having fun while leading by example and providing a safe and
inclusive
group environment.

Camp Lifeguard / Water Safety Instructor
JCC Rockland Camps is seeking skilled and motivated individuals for Lifeguard and WSI positions for summer
2022.
We
provide unique and engaging summer experiences for campers ages 18 months through entering 10th grade.
As a camp Lifeguard and WSI, you will be responsible for the safety and learning to swim process of our
campers.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Guard and instruct campers and staff during instructional and free swim periods
- Assist Aquatics Team Leadership in the implementation of safety plans for the pool complex
- Maintain safe swimming conditions both in the pools and on the deck, including cleanliness of pool
supplies
- Assess camper swim levels based on American Red Cross standards, and adjust to show growth throughout
the summer
- Respond to emergency situations effectively and complete incident reports as required
- Plan and implement rainy day lessons with dry land skills and fun activities in the event of inclement
weather
or
pool closures
Minimum Qualifications:

Must be 16 years of age or older and possess a valid Lifeguard or WSI certification, along with
CPR/First
Aid/AED
certifications

Camp Porter
Do you love camp, sunshine, and working with kids? Do you enjoy working with your hands and have an eye for
cleanliness and organization? JCC Rockland Camps is seeking a motivated individual to join the team as Camp
Porter.
We provide unique and engaging summer experiences for campers ages 18 months through entering 10th grade at
our
site
in West Nyack, NY.
As the Camp Porter, you will be responsible for handling a variety of tasks, and are a crucial piece of
making
each
day run smoothly and efficiently. Tasks include, but are not limited to:

Maintaining and distributing coolers and drink stations daily
- Assist Director of Food Services with all aspects of lunch periods, as well as distributing and cleaning
afternoon
snack
- Help with the car line as directed
- Accept deliveries of all camp packages and distribute or store accordingly
- Set up and clean-up of camp activity area supplies (archery, bikes, jump ropes, etc)
- Check ropes course for abstractions and trash throughout day, rake as needed
- Maintain overall cleanliness of grounds and alert professional maintenance and cleaning crews to any
issues
- Build positive and professional relationships with co-workers, campers, and other building staff
Skills/Expectations
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs or more
- Work independently and in a team environment
- Ability to safely operate and drive a golf cart

Summer Camp Photographer Internship
JCC Rockland Camps is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Photography Intern to capture the energy, joy, and
spirit of our campers. This role offers hands-on experience in photography, digital content creation, and
marketing. The intern will be responsible for photographing daily camp activities, special events, and
facilities, ensuring high-quality images are available for marketing and parent engagement.
Working closely with the marketing team, this internship provides valuable experience in visual storytelling,
branding, and social media content creation—an ideal opportunity for students or aspiring photographers looking
to build their portfolios.
Qualifications
- Experience in photography, including editing and uploading photos.
- Ability to create short-form videos for social media.
- Proficiency in Photoshop (preferred).
- Strong interpersonal skills—positive camper interactions are key to capturing the best moments!
- Adaptability, enthusiasm, patience, and a sense of humor.
- Comfortable being outdoors and active in summer heat.
- Photography portfolio or sample work required at interview.
Responsibilities
- Capture high-quality photos of campers engaging in activities.
- Meet daily deadlines for uploading images to an online gallery for parents.
- Organize and photograph weekly group photos.

- Work closely with program staff to ensure special events are documented.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to create engaging visual content for camp promotions and social media.
- Onsite presence required for the full 8-week camp session.

- Monday–Friday, 8:15 AM–4:50 PM
- Additional hours required for orientation and setup in the two weeks leading up to camp.
