Administration

Full and Part Time positions

Full time Hours: Mon–Thurs 11 am-7:30 pm, Friday 8 am-4:30 pm
Part time Hours: Monday-Friday 8:15 am-4:45 pm

Salary $21/hour

  • Law Enforcement or Security experience required
  • Monitor access to Jewish Community Center
  • Greet visitors and require check in at reception desk
  • Confirm identity and photo in access system for members and check identification for all visitors
  • Make several security inspections of Early Childhood Center (ECC) throughout the day
  • Make security inspections of perimeter of JCC insuring doors are locked and alarmed
  • Escort any outside vendors and contractors for ECC and JCC
  • Log and inspect all deliveries to JCC and tenants
  • Relieve reception desk when access employee is needed to work other areas or when needed
  • Maintain adherence to parking rules of JCC
  • Help escort children off buses for Beyond The Bell Program
  • Monitor and support operations of summer camp program
  • Work various large JCC events at the request of the JCC Facilities Director to insure safety and security issues
  • Other various miscellaneous duties requested by the RJCC Facilities Director

Children and Families

Early Childhood

The lead teacher will develop program along established guidelines and provide a safe, nurturing, positive classroom environment. The lead teacher works with the assistant teacher as a team to implement daily teaching and learning activities. Expectations of preschool teachers are to be kind, professional, helpful, self-starters, and creative. Lead teachers will design plans to meet the individual needs of each child in order to reach their maximum potential. Preschool teachers need to adapt easily to changing situations and be the leader in the classroom.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

Curriculum and Instruction

  • Plan both long and short range activities in accordance with curriculum objectives, developmentally appropriate practice and program philosophy
  • Maintain a positive physical and emotional educational environment
  • Ensure children are supervised at all times
  • Interact verbally and non-verbally with children during the day, at meal/snack times, and outside
  • Create detailed lesson plans according to established curriculum and weekly calendars
  • Collect and maintain updated information in children’s files and submit to office at the end of the school year
  • Incorporate activities and educate meaningfully about Jewish tradition, culture, values and Israel. Knowledge of Hebrew and Jewish culture or willingness to learn a plus.

Assessment

  • Use assessments to support children’s learning, via a variety of methods such as observations, class notations, checklists, and rating scales
  • Observe children’s strengths and weaknesses to inform instruction
  • Share assessment results with families
  • Maintain written records of child progress, observation, and assessment

Relationship between Teachers and Children

  • Foster children’s emotional well-being through positive social conversations, eye contact, tone of voice, and smiles
  • Treat all children with equal respect and consideration
  • Never use physical punishment, verbal abuse, threats, or derogatory remarks, nor withhold /force food as a form of discipline
  • Consider attention span and age and redirection to avoid developmentally inappropriate behavior
  • Help children develop a feeling of self worth
  • Focus on positive behavior, not unacceptable behavior

Health and Safety

  • SAFETY is a prime requisite at all times- attending to this goal requires vigilant, direct visual/verbal supervision
  • Check see that food items are clearly marked with child’s name
  • Complete pediatric first aid and CPR certification training
  • Keep hot foods and liquids out of children’s reach. Personal hot drinks must have lids
  • Follow recommended practices regarding hand washing, as posted in classroom
  • Follow recommended practices regarding frequency of cleaning and sanitizing all surfaces
  • Provide rest periods for children
  • Become familiar with emergency exit procedures as well as security procedures

Classroom and Learning Environment

  • Arrive at school 30 minutes before beginning of shift and depart 30 minutes after ending of shift, when room is restored to order
  • Set up and follow a consistent daily routine and post routine in room
  • Write weekly communication to be sent home either in written form or through class blog/website

Professional Commitment

  • Attend scheduled meetings and events as requiredo Attend scheduled meetings and events as required
  • Submit personal health forms, as well as other requested paperwork
  • Keep personal items such as purses, tote bags, cell phones inaccessible to children at all times
  • Maintain a level of professionalism by keeping any and all information about the school, staff, and children strictly confidential. Confidential information should not be shared with any parent, outsider, or staff member, other than the director. Information should never be shared at social gatherings, public places or through electronic media.

Job Requirements

A minimum of a BA in Early Childhood or a related field, and 3 years experience is preferred for this position. Ability to sit on the floor, bend and lift up to 30 lbs. Flexibility is a must. An Assistant Teacher provides support and assistance to the lead teacher in the classroom during instruction and transitional times, such as directed lessons, free play, circle time, snack, playground, music, and lunch. They help provide a safe, nurturing, positive environment and help maintain classroom management.

Under The Direction Of The Lead Teacher, The Assistant Teacher Will:

  • Engage with each child by playing, interacting, talking to and listening to them.
  • Provide a broad range of physical assistance to children, including in their personal needs such as toileting, changing diapers, cleaning, washing, etc.
  • Set up facilities for the teacher, including arts and crafts projects, special games, and other teaching exercises and instructions planned by the teacher.
  • May take over leadership role in the classroom during teacher’s absence.
  • Facilitate smooth transition for children from home to school.
  • Incorporate each family’s culture and tradition respectfully.
  • Complete pediatric first aid and CPR certification training.
  • Ensure that children are under direct and competent supervision at all times.
  • Attend staff meetings, trainings and professional development as required.

Additionally, Infant/Toddler teachers need to adapt easily and be sensitive to the needs of the families, while meeting the constantly changing needs of the infants.

After School Program

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Site Leader, a Beyond the Bell Counselor is responsible for assisting with all daily programming needs and supervision of students enrolled in the program. Counselors work in a team context to assure that (1) programming is fulfilling the current needs of our membership and community, (2) that program space is utilized efficiently and effectively and (3) the mission and brand of the JCC is fulfilled at all times.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Positive interaction with students, parents and co-workers
  • Assist in daily program operation
  • Set-up and clean-up of program space and activities daily
  • Work in a team environment
  • Implementation and follow through on all program policies and procedures
  • Upkeep of site location for cleanliness and to meet all New York State guidelines
  • Attend on-going staff trainings and maintain required numbers of training hours
  • Provide supervision and direction to children ranging in age from K-7 grade
  • Act as a role model for participants and other staff
  • Organize and implement “Club” activities

Hours

  • Depending on the site, programs run for 3-4 hours a day starting as early as 2pm.
  • All applicants need to be able to work a minimum of two shifts a week. Counselors may need to work additional days based on the needs of the program and the Site Leader’s requirements.

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum age requirement of 16 years
  • Current HS student or beyond
  • Minimum 1 year working with school age children in some capacity (babysitting counts)

Fitness

Hourly Rate for Training: $32-$36 per hour depending on experience.

JCC Rockland is looking for certified personal trainers to join our team of fitness professionals. We have opportunities to work with a wide range of clients including seniors, teens, and special populations. Trainers will need a professional attitude and a keen understanding of customer service. Principal Responsibilities

  • Ability to design individual and group exercise programs tailored to the needs and attainable goals of specific clients

We are looking to expand our programs to meet the needs of our growing membership. We offer mat classes, reformer classes, and private training in our dedicated Pilates Studio.

Position Overview

We are looking for a certified Pilates instructor to teach mat and reformer classes. This role also includes the opportunity to work out of a fully equipped private Pilates studio for one-on-one sessions, with access to all apparatus.

Membership

Position Summary:

The Membership Experience Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and enhancing member and guest experiences. This role involves planning and executing member engagement events to ensure all interactions are positive, meaningful and aligned with JCC Rockland’s mission and values. This position will strive to create a warm environment where visitors leave feeling inspired and connected. Our goal is to create a home away from home experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Engagement

  • Model exceptional customer service with a smile while cultivating a positive memorable member experience.
  • Greet, assist and show care for members and guests while engaging in meaningful dialogue around interest, wants and needs.
  • Maintain accurate member notes and data in Daxko
  • Assist in Perkville rewards programs as needed
  • Partner with fitness team to create engagement events inspiring member participation
  • Partner with membership director creating engagement calendar and developing innovative programs and procedures
  • Spend mornings at the reservation station assisting members in app user experience
  • Facilitate and promote successful member social events
  • Oversee member check in processes for group fitness classes
  • Excel in JCC app navigation, communicating with app support staff and training other staff members
  • Resolve customer satisfaction issues swiftly with the membership director.
  • Collaborate with program managers if needed for meaningful programs
  • Implement the Kvetch and Kell process. Track feedback and take action where necessary to ensure the customer feels heard while identifying areas of improvement
  • Assist in events outside of normal work hours if needed for special events
  • Work with Pickleball coordinator to ensure members needs are met in program
  • Update gymnasium calendar as needed for basketball
  • Collaborate with facilities and programming teams to ensure safe, efficient daily operations.
  • After sale, start the process of engagement with ongoing 30,60 and 90 day contacts tracking data where needed.
  • Monitor reservations to be made over Shabbat and communicate with desk staff to ensure members reservations are made
  • Willingness to perform other related duties as needed required or assigned

Sales Support

  • Provide key support for sales staff when needed, participating in open houses and sales events
  • Oversee membership inquiries assisting with member fitness response sheet and member tracker
  • Give tours of fitness center
  • Be knowledgeable of how to execute sales including orienting new members and setting them up with the necessary information to get started
  • Renew memberships and change member categories

Position Hours: Monday-Thursday 8 am-4 pm, Friday 8-3 pm

This position requires individuals to be able to perform well in a fast-paced environment. It requires high mobility, standing, walking, bending and lifting. Must be able to carry or lift.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years in customer service and hospitality
  • Demonstrate ability to create memorable customer experiences
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Computer skills, including experience with CRM’S and Google programs
