Youth and Families Programming

Camps

JCC Rockland Camps offer a vibrant summer experience for children from 18 months to 10th grade. Programs include JLand for toddlers and preschoolers, Discover for grades K–6, J-Tweens and J-Teens for grades 6–9, and a Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program for grades 9–10. Campers engage in activities like swimming, sports, arts, STEM, and off-campus trips, all within a nurturing environment that promotes self-esteem and lasting friendships.

Early Childhood

The Deborah Koenig Early Childhood Center provides year-round programs for children from infancy through pre-kindergarten. The curriculum emphasizes play-based learning, fostering social, emotional, and cognitive development. Facilities include age-appropriate classrooms, outdoor play areas, and enrichment classes, creating a warm and inclusive environment for young learners.

Family Programming

JCC Rockland’s family programs are designed to bring families together through engaging activities:

  • Party at the J: Offers themed birthday parties, including imaginative play in “Downtown at the J,” sports parties with Coach Jamie, and summer splash pad parties, complete with a personal party host and all necessary amenities.
  • Tot Shabbat: A monthly celebration featuring songs, blessings, challah, and participation from local Rabbis and Cantors, providing families with a special Shabbat experience and a take-home Shabbat bag.
  • Open Play Dates: Scheduled times for families to enjoy the JCC’s facilities together, encouraging social interaction and play in a community setting.

School Age Care

Programs for children in grades K–5

  • Beyond the Bell: An after-school program offering homework assistance, snacks, and supervised activities tailored to children’s developmental needs, available at multiple Rockland County school sites.
  • Vacation Days at the J: Provides full-day care with fun activities during school holidays and breaks, ensuring children have a safe and engaging environment when school is out.
  • Kids Night Out: Saturday evening events with themes like “Glow in the Dark” and “Candy Land,” allowing children to enjoy games and activities while parents have a night off.

Teen Programming

Designed for middle and high school students to develop leadership skills and social connections:

  • Teen Leadership Initiative (TLI): A two-year program for Jewish teens in grades 9–10, focusing on leadership development, community service, and philanthropy, including grant proposal evaluations and allocations.
  • Middle School Meetups: Events for students in grades 6–8 to socialize and participate in various activities, fostering friendships and providing a fun break from the school routine.

Sports & Recreation

JCC Rockland’s J-Play offers a comprehensive sports and recreation program designed to engage children and teens in physical activity, skill development, and team play.

  • Mini Sports: An introductory program for young children, offering exposure to various sports such as track & field, basketball, soccer, T-ball, and football. Each week focuses on a different sport, helping children discover their interests and develop basic skills.
  • J Hoops: Open to students in grades 3–12, this league emphasizes sportsmanship, fundamental skills, and competitive play. Players of all levels can enjoy the game, with opportunities to compete for league championships.

These programs aim to foster a love for sports, promote physical fitness, and build teamwork and confidence among participants.

Scholastic Book Fair

Book Fair proceeds help support new books, supplies, and furniture at The Deborah Koenig Early Childhood Center.

Maccabees and Menorahs

Join us for a rockin’ Hanukkah celebration filled with music and festive cheer! Enjoy a performance by Matty Roxx, get creative with Hanukkah crafts, and taste your way through delicious traditional treats! Bring the whole family for a bright and joyful afternoon of fun!

Coding for Kids!

Unlock your child’s creativity through code! In this fun, hands-on class, participants will be introduced to the basics of computer programming and explore how simple coding concepts can be used to create and problem-solve. Over the course of four sessions, children will take part in engaging activities designed to spark curiosity and build confidence while having fun with technology.
