Rachel Kurland

Early Childhood Director

Favorite Childhood Book: Mr Jolly’s Hotel for Dogs

Rachel was born and raised in Rockland County. Her parents instilled in her a strong Jewish identity and values. She holds degrees from the University of Wisconsin, Hahnemann University, and Fordham University, along with a recent Early Childhood Leadership Certificate from Bank Street College.

Rachel began at the Deborah Koening Early Childhood Center in its inaugural year in 2014, moving up to Assistant Director, and then Director in 2021. She also directs JLand, the early childhood camp at JCC Rockland. Passionate about early childhood education, Rachel is committed to integrating Jewish values and developmentally sound practices into her work. She lives with her husband, Adam, three sons, Alex, Danny and Cooper, and their Tibetan Terrier, Waffles.

Arden Glogau

Assistant Director

Favorite Childhood Book: Madeline by Ludwig Bemelmans and John Bemelmans Marciano.

Arden is a dedicated early childhood educator with New York State certification in Early Childhood (Birth–2nd Grade) and Childhood Education (Grades 1–6). She taught 3-year-olds at the Shames JCC Early Childhood Center and spent over 10 years as an elementary school teacher in Rockland County and New York City.

Arden’s camp experience includes nine summers at Ramaquois Day Camp and four years as Director of River Friends Day Camp. She now joins the Deborah Koenig Early Childhood Center (DKECC) as Assistant Director, working closely with our youngest campers at J Land.

Committed to fostering social-emotional growth and early learning, Arden creates warm, engaging environments where children can explore, play, and grow.

She lives in New City, NY, with her two daughters, ages 12 and 16.
