JCC Rockland Camps is seeking applicants to fill several Lifeguard/ WSI positions for summer 2017. JCC Rockland Camps provide an exciting and unique summer experience for youth ages 18 months – entering 10th grade. Each Lifeguard/WSI is expected to protect and nurture the physical, mental and emotional welfare of all campers assigned to him/her.

Lifeguard/WSI Responsibilities:
• Guard and instruct campers and staff during instructional & recreational swim periods daily
• Assist Aquatics Director, Assistant Aquatics Director and Head Lifeguard in the implementation of safety plan for Swimming pool complex
• Maintains safe swimming conditions in the pools, on decks and surrounding areas
• Maintain cleanliness and order of pool area and equipment
• Asses campers swim levels based on American Red Cross swim standards
• Respond to emergency situations effectively and complete incident and accident reports as required
• Plan and implement rainy day lessons both dry land skills and fun activities to fill swim period time on bad weather or pool closure days

• Must be 16 years or older and have a current lifeguard or WSI certification along with CPR/First Aid/AED
• Jr Guards that are 15 but entering 11th grade with full certifications maybe considered based on needs and experience
• Must have knowledge of American Red Cross Swim instruction skill levels
• Experience working with youth ages 2-15
• Friendly and outgoing
• Previous lifeguarding experience or summer camp experience a plus
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff, co-workers and parents
• WSI certification preferred, but not required
• Dedicated and responsible

Sunday- Friday, June 19-Sept 1- flexible days/weeks shifts
hours of operation Sunday- 9am-2pm, M-F 8:30am-6:30pm
With additional days and hours for orientation during the weeks of June 11th & 18th

Stipend for the summer based on experience.
