Camps Specialist

JCC Rockland is seeking talented individuals to join our summer team. JCC Rockland Camps provide unique and engaging summer experiences for campers ages 18 months to entering 10th grade. We are seeking adults with talents in specialty areas who have an awesome ability to connect with kids.

As a Specialist, you will function in a teaching role and will work with camp groups. You will be responsible for lesson planning, supply lists, implementing the activity while offering instruction and direction to both campers and staff.

All camp staff provide guidance and act as a positive role model for the campers and their fellow camp staff.

  • Assist in coordination of camp wide events such as Color Run, Color War & Carnival
  • Submit weekly lesson plans and equipment needs
  • Manage a camper group of 8-15 campers and instruct counselors how to assist during activity sessions
  • Must be able to work and cooperate in a friendly manner with campers, staff and administration
  • Integrate a strong understanding of sportsmanship in programming
  • Assume additional roles and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
  • Keep an inventory of supplies and manage storage areas for cleanliness
  • Notify supervisor of any issues or concerns as it relates to schedule, facility, equipment or behaviors that need to be addressed
  • Has a strong skill set and ability to teach in one or more of the following areas;
    • Arts and Crafts
    • Theatre/Drama/Improv
    • Dance (All Styles)
    • Science/Nature
    • Camping/Outdoor Adventure
    • Music/Storytelling
  • Strong leadership skills and a self-starter
  • Has previous experience working in a camp environment and teaching children
  • Is at least 20 years old
  • Great organizational skills and communication skills
  • Has a positive, personable outlook, energetic, happy, hardworking, effective in high pressure situations and as significant attention to detail
  • Must enjoy working in a team environment

June 29-August 213 M-F 8:30am-4:30pm (no camp July 3)
Set-up, meetings & trainings during the two weeks prior
