OVERVIEW

The Camp Nurse/Medical Director serves as a member of the JCC professional staff. The Director works within the framework of the total agency program and objectives to which the program is related. S/He is responsible for the after:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
  • Pre-camp responsibilities include reviewing camper and staff medical files, ordering supplies, setting up of the camp health room and preparing for Rockland County Department of Health inspection
  • Oversee the camp health care office
  • Managing and overseeing the health policies and daily procedures at camp
  • Responsible for training trip leaders to distribute medications off site as needed
  • Responsible for managing all food allergies for campers and staff
  • Accountable for administering daily medication to campers and staff
  • Provide emergency and routine first aid care to campers and staff
  • Maintain medical records and medical log book as required by department of health
  • Communicating with parents as needed
  • Presenting at orientation for summer camp staff as it relates to health care procedures
  • Must be able to work and cooperate in a friendly and fast paced camp environment with all campers, staff and administration
  • Order, organize and maintain inventory of medical center supplies
  • Set up space prior to camp and break down at end of camp season
SCHEDULE

June 26- Aug 18 M-F 8:30am-4:30pm (no camp July 4)
Set-up, meetings and training occur during the 2 weeks prior to camp

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Certified or licensed with at least one of the following RN, LN, LPN, EMT or RTE
  • Have current 2016 CPR & first aid certification including infant, child & adult
  • Understanding of food allergies and administration of Epi-pen
  • Knowledge of common childhood illnesses, rashes and communicable disease common to youth and summer camps
  • Experience working with children in a summer camp or school setting a plus
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to lift 20lbs or more
