Visit the Torah Museum which features a collection of artifacts dating back to Biblical times. Some of the rare artifacts are hands on. Visit and tour a Sephardic Synagogue. Walk through the beautiful Sephardic neighborhood. Visit a Torah scribe and learn the special way a Torah scroll is written.

Washington DC

Board our motorcoach to Baltimore, MD where you will enjoy lunch on your own at the Inner Harbour and visit the Jewish Museum. Then on to DC where we will have dinner in Georgetown followed by free time to explore.
Check into our hotel, The Residence Inn Washington Capitol Hill/Navy Yard (all suite hotel)
After breakfast, we will visit the National Museum of African American History and Culture. There will be time for those who’d like to also visit the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum or any of the other museums located on the Smithsonian Mall. Weather permitting, we will then visit the FDR memorial before enjoying dinner and an evening bus tour of the monuments.
After breakfast, we will tour the United States Capitol and if in town, perhaps meet with one of our NY State Congressmen. Then it’s off to lunch on our own at Union Station, which opened in 1907 for train travel, and is now a leisure destination as well. Our afternoon will be a time for remembering this great mini-vacation offered by the J, as we travel back to Rockland and consider registering for the next J trip!

Albuquerque & Santa Fe

Fly to Albuquerque. Check into the Hotel Albuquerque at Old Town. Time to relax or explore Old Town before enjoying an amazing dinner.
Early morning experience the Albuquerque Balloon Festival: Gourmet buffet breakfast at the Gondola Club while viewing the power and awe of over 500 hot air balloons rising gracefully against the New Mexico turquoise sky! Next stop is the Sandia Peak Tramway, which rises 10,600 feet above sea level. Then it’s off to lunch and back to Albuquerque Old Town for a museum visit and free time. You will have the option of seeing a Flaminco show this evening.
Travel the Turquoise Trail from Albuquerque to Santa Fe. Explore the town of Madrid, filled with artists and craftsmen nestled in the mountains. We will visit the Georgia O’Keefe Museum in Santa Fe, and then check into the Eldorado Hotel & Spa. Following dinner tonight, you will have the option of visiting Temple Beth Shalom for Shabbat services.
The morning journey to Taos is filled with breathtaking views of Rio Grande Valley. Stop at the enchanting San Francisco de Asis Church; made famous by artists including Georgia O’Keeffe, Peter Hurd, Fritz Scholder, and Ansel Adams. You’ll experience a tour by a Native guide of Taos Pueblo. Later we will take the “High Road” through the mountain villages to Chimayo – these are the same villages where crypto-Jews hid from the Inquisition over 400 years ago!
Today we visit Santa Fe “Art Country” with a tour of the Museum of International Folk Art and the Museum of Indian Arts & Culture. Tonight we cook our own dinner at the internationally acclaimed, Santa Fe School of Cooking. Not only will you impress your friends at home with your stories, but you’ll be able to prepare a Southwestern meal for them adayell.
Our journey continues as we travel northwest of Santa Fe, across the Rio Grande Valley and on to the Pajarito Plateau, home of Bandelier National Monument. Our destination: Frijoles Canyon. Our farewell dinner will be held at Restaurant L’Olivier. Chef Xavier Grenet incorporates the best flavors of New Mexico into his French cuisine.
